Finding Focus within IUSB with Student Tricks

College life is full of small challenges that can make a difference within your day, "where to study?" "how do I save money on textbooks, or finding a quiet space for in between classes?" This blog is dedicated to exploring the hidden spots and using good tips that can help IUSB students for both inside and outside the classroom.

My idea for this as a blog developed and goes back to my first year at IUSB. It seems as almost immediately me and my friends had a spot in a library and apparently it wasn't a popular spot because when I would check "our spot" through different times and semesters it was always open. I wanted to find more areas on campus that I would consider underrated spaces that can make studying a little easier.

This blog will highlight tips and stories that can make student life smoother and more affordable. You can find here:

- Hidden study spots and calming areas on campus

- Affordable textbook alternatives and campus resources

- How to balance stress, school, work, and social life

This matters because the quality of how you study, the books you can afford, and the community can make or break the experience you may have from college.

This is meant to be a space for student connection. If you have a favorite place to study or a resource you think more students should know about then please share in the comments!

  1. I think this is a great blog idea that can be helpful to many students, especially since you can relate to the problem and are almost writing for your past self. Your formatting and design are a bit hard to read, like the sidebars and header. I suggest messing around with the designs on blogger to make it more reader friendly.

  2. My favorite study spot on campus is the Military Connected Student Services Office in the admin building. It is super cozy in this office. In case I need it to be super quiet, I will go into the side office, where there is plenty of natural light and typically no one to bother me. There is also a couch and a television where we put on lofi music to study to. Right now, most of these lo-fi channels are fall-themed. What is your favorite study spot right now?

  3. I really enjoyed reading your post! As an IUS student, I can definitely relate to the struggle of finding quiet and comfortable study spots on campus even though it is a much smaller campus. I think it’s great that you’re highlighting these hidden areas and sharing ways to make college life more manageable, especially with textbook costs and balancing everything at once. One spot I’ve found helpful is the library, it’s usually quiet and has great lighting for studying. Another place I have used is the on campus Starbucks, it is a little louder than the library but still a great spot! Have you found any new areas this semester that are a good place for others to check out?
